3 Feb 2021 We have teamed up with gestalten to create a book that gathers world-renowned experts to explore a better urban future for all of humanity.

We investigate what we call ‘Techniques of Futuring’. We are a transdisciplinary institute; we conduct empirical research on existing practices, but also help to initiate experiments. CityAirSim project, with Urban Futures so How does vegetation, the structure of the settlement, the amount of traffic and the type of vehicle air pollution situation in cities? And how can knowledge of these questions are visualized and communicated, for example, to high school students and people working in urban planning?

The Challenge of Urban Futures The pivotal characteristic of the Research Platform “The Challenge of Urban Futures” is its epistemological breadth, in that it aims at scrutinising ecologies of relations that connect multiple thematic areas.

The Urban Futures Studio is devoted to the study of positive urban futures and of ways to get there. We investigate what we call ‘Techniques of Futuring’. Part of that work lies within the Urban Futures Collaborative, a university-wide initiative to conduct research and teaching in areas of race or racism, social (in)justice, educational inequalities or access, health disparities, urban housing, poverty, policing, and other topics that speak to the challenges facing cities and urban living.

The investigations captured somewhat blurred associations to a communicated coherent vision of the future. Gemma joined Future Urban in November 2020. She has a strong design background of Urban Design, Interior Architecture and accompanied Graphic Design skills. Through working on large commercial projects as an Interior Designer, as well as residential masterplanned communities as an Urban Designer, Gemma has a well-rounded knowledge of the detail, design, development and overall holistic view of Urban Living Lab – Future Scenarios.

How this plays out is likely to be shaped by how the wider political and economic conditions of a post-COVID world shape future urban transport systems.

I slutet av 2019 upphörde verksamheten i sin nuvarande form, men de partner som ingått i konsortiet fortsätter finansiera verksamheten i ytterligare fyra år i en ny organisation med namnet Centre
